The Neighborhood Leadership Series (NLS) is a great starting place to gain the knowledge and skills to become a community leader. The program includes seven weekly learning sessions and ends with a graduation celebration:

  • Week 1: Tuesday, July 17 – Teambuilding Exercises and NLS Alumni Discussion Panel
  • Week 2: Tuesday, July 24 – Driving Tour and history of Marshall-Ridley Choice Neighborhood
  • Week 3: Tuesday, July 31 – Conflict Resolution and Consensus-Building
  • Week 4: Tuesday, Aug. 7 – Local Government 101: Ways to Get Involved and Be Heard
  • Week 5: Tuesday, Aug. 14 – Leadership and Community Organizing 101
  • Week 6: Tuesday, Aug. 21 – Community Resources and How to Start a Business or Non-Profit
  • Week 7: Tuesday Aug. 28 – Graduation Ceremony

Participants must live or work in the Marshall-Ridley Choice Neighborhood. Sessions will take place from 6—8 p.m. at the Ridley Recreation Center, 618 18th Street. Dinner and networking will begin at 5:30 p.m. Registration is free, but space is limited. Childcare will be available for program participants.
