Newport News’ youth and gang violence prevention initiative, Building Better Futures, has begun to create a three-year strategic plan to strengthen prevention and intervention efforts in the city. Community members are invited to attend a discussion on Tuesday, July 17, 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the Downing-Gross Cultural Arts Center to plan a vision to enhance the city’s efforts in preventing violence. Come and discuss:

• How violence impacts you directly or indirectly
• Strengths of the community
• Possible solutions
